The California Earthquake Authority

California Earthquake Authority (CEA) encourages Californians to reduce their risk of earthquake loss. CEA is a not-for-profit, publicly managed, privately funded provider of home earthquake insurance to California homeowners and renters.

CEA provides leadership to the CRMP Board, helped found CRMP in 2011, and continues to provide partial funding for CRMP's mitigation programs such as Earthquake Brace + Bolt.

  • Learn about earthquake risk: CEA risk education and loss mitigation programs joined with earthquake insurance protection help you prepare for and recover from damaging earthquakes.
  • Choose CEA insurance: Get peace of mind from knowing you can afford to repair, rebuild, or replace your covered property damaged by an earthquake.
  • Buy today: Get CEA insurance through a CEA Participating Residential Insurer.
  • CEA developed CEA Brace + Bolt (CEA BB) to help qualifying CEA policyholders lessen the potential for damage to their houses during an earthquake.  Eligible applicants for this program are those who are invited to participate and have a CEA earthquake insurance policy on a qualifying house.  As part of the program, once the retrofit is complete, policyholders will qualify for up to a 25 percent discount on their CEA earthquake insurance premium.
